WILL of THOMAS HELME (III) - 1806


In the name of God Amen, I, Thomas Helme of the town of the town of Brookhaven County of Suffolk and State of New York being of sound disposing mind and memory and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and Testament: that is to say, principally and First of all I give and recommend my soul into the hand of Almighty God who gave it and my body to the Earth to be buried in decent christian burial at the discretion of my executors nothing doubting but at the general resurection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God, and as touching such worldly estate as it has pleased God to bless me with in this life I give demise and dispose of in the following manner and form. Impremises I give and bequeath to my daughter Hannah Woodhull her heirs and assigns forever all my lands that lies on the East side of the road leading through Millers Place and bounded northwardly by land now in possession of James Davis, Eastwardly and Southwardly land of Merrit S. Woodhull and Westwardly by the aforementioned road. Also ten acres of woodland laying on the east side of the land which I bought of William Floyd being twenty rods in weadth and eightly in length also all my servants my riding chair and my white horse. Then I give and bequeath to my daughter Martha Mills two hundred pounds out of the monies due to me on bond or note. Than I give and bequeath to my two daughters Hannah Woodhull and Martha Mills all the remainder of my money and all that is due to me on Book, bond or note, together with all my household furniture of every kind to be equally divided between them, then I give and bequeath to my son William Henry Helme his heirs and assigns forever all the remainder of my lands meadows and buildings in the county of Suffolk not before devised or disposed of with all the appurtenences thereunto belonging also all my farming utensals and implements of husbandry and all my cattle, horses, sheep and hogs except which I have heretofore disposed of--and lastly I do hereby consistitute ordain and appoint my son William H. Helme and my son-in-law William Mills and Daniel Comstock executores to this my last will and testiment ratifying and confirming this and this only to be my last will and testiment. In testimony where I have hereto under set my hand and seal this eleventh day of October in the year of our Lord one Thousand eight hundred and six.

I Thomas Helme the within named Testor Do make this Codicil to my last will and testament to be annexed to and be made a part of the same that is to say I give and bequeath unto my daughter Hannah Woodhull all my farming utensils and implements of husbandry and all my stock of cattle Horses Shee and Hogs anything in my said will to the contrarty notwithstanding. Also I hereby constitute my said daughter Hannah Woodhull to be an exectrix to my last Will and Testament in conjunction with my son-in-law William Mills and in lieu of Daniel Comstock whose appointment I hereby revoke. In witness whereof I the said Thomas Helme do hereunto set my hand and seal this Sixth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirteen.
