WRIT - 22 February 1823 - Abraham H. Gardiner, Sheriff to William W. Mills & William H. Helme


By virtue of a writ of fieri facias issued out of the Court of Common Pleas of Suffolk County tested May 29, 1821, at the suite of William W. Mills and William H. Helme to said Sheriff directed and delivered, commanding him of the goods, chattels, lands and tenements of Jonah Miller to levy for $474.52 damages and costs, he has siezed and taken one tract of land bounded on the north by north country road, on the east by land of Levi Tooker an Richard Davis, on the south by land of Samuel Bayles, on the west by land of Henry C. Mathers and John Woodhull, containing by estimation Three Hundred and fifty acres be it more or less. Also one tract of land bounded on the north by the country road before mentioned, on the east and south by land of John Woodhull, on the west by land of Henry C. Mathers to the land of Betsey Prince, then by the land of the said Betsey Prince to the road aforesaid containing by estimation fifty acres be it more or less. Also one tract of land bounded on the West on the north and on the east by land of Josiah Hallock and on the south by the country road aforesaid. Containing by estimation three fourths of an acre be it more or less. Also one other tract of land, bounded on the north by land of Philip Hallock, on the east by land of Josiah Hallock, on the south by land of Samuel Bayles and on the west by land of Richard Davis containing by estimation Sixty five acres be it more or less, situate and lying about Three miles east of Millers Place in the town of Brookhaven and County aforesaid and state of New York, the property of the said Jonah Miller.

Since the seizure and by virtue of said writ of fieri facias, the said land on November 6, 1821, were exposed to sale at public vendue, and purchase by said parties of the second part for $480 being the highest sum bidden for said land.

This deed conveys: "the said lands as before mentioned and described and all the state right title and interest which the said Jonah Miller had of and in and to the said land aforesaid - as fully and absolutely as I the said Abraham H. Gardiner, Sheriff as aforesaid might could or ought to grant, bargain and sell the said lands by force of the said Statute aforesaid and the said writ of fieri facisas or otherwise."
